Joy.

All that rushing to get essays done on time made a impression. So, so far out of eight assignments this year (including 1 9000 word dissertation, 1 group presentation, 1 research proposal and five essays) I have already completed 3, so I have left 5; the dissertation, 3 essays and the group presentation.

Currently cutting assignment number 4 down to the word limit, so that should be done by the end of today. Then I'll get back to struggling to collect enough data for my dissertation and catching up with the work. Every single lecterer, after looking at our schedule harks on about how much free time we have and gives us all this reading to do. Only...we have no free time because its taken up by all the bloody reading and work.

Should be able to make a start on the group work soon as well, and depending on how many hoops my dissertation suprevisor makes me jump through I might actually be able to begin assignment number 5.

Every lecterer seems to only think I'm around to do their course, and no other so its a heck of a lot of work but I'm hoping to stay on schedule and pass this year, then its into the big wide world.

Can't wait for april, thats when the deadline for my dissertation is. I just want the lousy great thing out of the way so I don't have it hanging over me.

Did find a great site over the summer called 43things.com, love it and already got some goals out of the way.

Oh, and mostly moved my blog to :

http://the-quiet-ones.blogspot.com/

Just because I can understand the customation a bit better. Not sure if I'm going to just post on there, but it is easier to work with so I might well do so. Pop along if you want to keep an eye on my progress, should be able to eat into some major goals this year after university.

Goals:

* Finish assignments
* Pass last year of university / get a degree
* Get a steady job
* Get set up in renting accomodation
* Finish my novel (major work scheduled for next november)
* Learn to draw to a standard I'm happy with (ongoing in every spare moment)
* Draw graphic novels
* Create animation

Things I need:

* A house with land
* A bike

Thats one thing off my list. I also did five grueling weeks of work experence, so thats something to put on my cv.

Currently i'm working on my dissertation for next year. I'm hoping to have it out of the way within a week or two so i can send off my surveys and have some time to do some more drawing practice while i wait to get them back.

Gonna try scheduling in some driving lessons too for when i manage to get home. Also managed a bit more novel writing, but i'm still way off the end point.

In other news i also finally got a graphics tablet, still learning to use it but i'm already seeing the benefits. Got to get back to writing my dissertation, trying to finish by tuesday so that i can have a couple of days solid drawing practice before i get it reviewed.

Completed goals:

* to pass my second year of university
* to buy my own graphics tablet
* to have more than 5 thousand pounds to my name

Future goals:

* perfect charater design number 1
* consistantly draw charater number 1
* learn to draw well enough to be happy with
* Write chapter 1 of novel
* finish writing novel
* Pass driving tests
* to have more than 10 thousand pounds to my name
* to finish my dissertation
* to pass my final year of university

In the past month i've completed roughly six assignments out of a total of eight. The last two are 1400 and 1500 words each, though i'm hearing some nasty rumours about the latter one being changed to 2000 words. That is also the class where the lectuer is pressuring us about revision, we even need to learn by heart several referenced examples for each topic something thought too much to expect in past exams, with the author and date of each study done, she's even tagged on an oral presentation complete with slides.

I got up the nerve to talk to her about whether our communication skills would be assessed as i didn't want our group mark (oral presentation is in groups) to be dragged down because of my innate difficulty in communication. Only she said our communication skills would be assessed but that my autism wouldn't factor in as the presentation was done in a goup. There are too many inconsistancies in the way she said it, and i realise that i mearly said autistic and did not link it to worries about communication. Therefore it could be that she like a lot of people doesn't know what autism intales and supposed it was an intelletual worry. I've also realised that although my friend (dislexic) gets stickers to put on her work so that she is not marked down for spelling i do not, which does not match up with the authority in charge accepting that i had severe spelling difficulties.

When i was 14 it was tested as that of a 6/7 year old. Austisms not bad though, when i was 7 my non veral logic skills were marked as at a age 14 level (because their charts only went up to 14 and they had to mark it as something). I'd rather be able to work out solutions and not be able to spell them than be able to spell them but poor at working them out.

In other news i sent my cv off to four rescue centres to apply for work experence after my exams, all four of them have replied with a positive response despite my mother's doubt that they would do.

I'm also going to be working on my disertation this summer, i'm already decided what i want to do it on though i doubt anyone would want to supervise it. I feel i know enough about the subject area, and studying anything else would bore me. Think i'm going to have to put my foot down about it.

I'm also planning to learning how to drive this summer, i've tried before but it hasn't ended well. I need this skill before i go into mainstream work, so i'm going to have to bite my tongue and get on with it. I can't be afraid forever.

I also want to use this summer to get more done of my novel, university hasn't been kind to my writing time. That, more drawing practise and perhaps some extra volunteer work to bulk out by cv a bit more. I think those wonderful times when you don't need to do anything are a few years off at least.

My goals list:

* To finish my reasearch methods assignment
* To finish my behavioural ecology assignment
* To declare my module choices for third year
* To complete my second year exams
* to finish the novel i'm writing
* to pass my second year of university
* have ten thousand pounds to my name
* to buy my own graphics tablet
* be able to draw good enough for me to be proud of
* to draw my serious manga series
* to draw my not serious manga series
* to make my own animation

Things i need:

* Scratching post for cat
* two chinchilla cages
* graphics tablet
* dehumidier / air conditioner
* a house with land
* money

Then I have to remind myself that to make progress I need to do more. Finding that balance that will mean that I don't neglect some responsibilities to do others can be perplexing at times.

I have finished the story chapter I was writing, which crosses something off my list at least.

University lectures are regularly filled with various reminders of how much harder it will be this year, and how much more effort we will have to put in. Though no actual figure is ever mentioned, its still nerve- racking to say the least.

Other progress I have made is sudden drawing urges have added greatly to my experience and though I am far off from what I want to achieve, at least I can see very marked improvements in my drawings so far.

While adding to my previous goals I decided to try for a job. My current circumstances mean that I don't need one, but it would be a big step for me as being autistic I find it very difficult to interact with people and even to step outside my door. Therefore doing something that requires me to interact with strangers and be in a place that I don't know, although terrifying could help me with later life. Or it could just break me, sink or swim, I don't know which I’ll do yet but i'm going to see.

My goals are currently:

* to update my CV
* to hand the aforementioned CV to my local pet shop
* to finish the novel i'm writing
* to pass my second year of university
* have ten thousand pounds to my name
* to buy my own graphics tablet
* be able to draw good enough for me to be proud of
* to draw my serious manga series
* to draw my not serious manga series
* to make my own animation

 Comments

lovely normal buggered life

My first post, so some general introduction is in order. I'm 20 in my second year of university and have less than five thousand to my name. The problem with that is that i don't want to be strapped to a job i can't stand and retire at 70 if i'm lucky to what horrid pension i'm hearing about.
So i'm going to make something of my life, i want to live my life and i want my siblings and my mother to be able to do the same.
Whether that be millionairehood (seem to need to be to be able to afford a house these days) or just helping my family be comferable.

So...i've got high goals, but i'd rather set high goals and try than to fail before i've even begun.

My goals are currently:

* to finish the story chapter i'm writing
* to finish the novel i'm writing
* to pass my second year of university
* have ten thousand pounds to my name
* to buy my own graphics tablet
* be able to draw good enough for me to be proud of
* to draw my serious manga series
* to draw my not serious manga series
* to make my own animation (only to be attempted seriously after both of the above are done or at least the serious one done)

More goals will be added as i progress through life, the marjority of these goals will be carried out in order. Some must not be done before others are; for instance, the novel must be completed or at least down to the last chapter or more appropriately the editing process before i attempt the manga storylines.

I have found that my mind is so overflowing with stories that to not restrain it makes my head feel as if it were to explode. So after i have finished the near completed story chapter, aside from random plotless drawings nothing will exist outside of the novel on creativity side of things. Theres more than enough in that book for my mind to still spin dizzyly without adding more stories.

I created this blog to keep track of these goals and make sure that i don't stray off my path. Some day i hope to look back on this and see how far i've come, as it is i will update at some point, most likely while i am writing the novel.

 Comments
